In this work, I explored the functionality of my body in a melancholy and satirical performance of making bread using the yeast of my vaginal discharge. The work sought to escape or develop from a sexual relation to genitalia and explore a ‘practical’, ‘homemaking’ and obscurely domesticated function of my sex. Through the act of ’milking’ myself, the work also plays with ideas of reproduction associated with the production of food, feeding and giving life. In a performative continuation of the work, I fed the vagina bread to a group of people. This work was heavily inspired by Martha Rosler’s Semiotics of the Kitchen (1975).
